Honestly other than the Lolita one I really do think all of these really work!! Great piece! I love looking at all these covers and thinking about the rationale behind them and why they work or don't!
I’ve done quite a bit of calligraphy in my past. Or, in another life I was a scribe and illuminator in the SCA. And when I got to the Papyrus collage - oh, did the memories come flooding back! I do agree that fine right, what some call ‘Ugly’ Is quite captivating and elicits an almost instant connection to the book. I’ve bought books in genres I normally don’t peruse because of their outrageously unique cover design. Sure, sure, don’t judge a book by its cover… but it cannot be denied that an attention grabbing cover can be key to getting your publication of the launch pad with the masses.
That's really awesome that you got interviewed by the Washington Post. Congrats!
Thanks!
Better ugly than boring! At least ugly is memorable.
Every time!

Yep…not pretty, but I appreciate the art reflecting the writing within…works both ways re likelihood of picking the book up.
