Just yesterday, someone asked me if I'd read Ann Neopolitano - and my response was "I read that one with the giant face on the cover" - couldn't even remember the name (Hello, Beautiful) but boy, that cover had made an impression.
Strong parallel to music album (and more recently CD) covers. Movie posters too, although those function somewhat differently, in that they are not purchased as part of a physical product. Likewise the full-scale transition to selling music as a digital/streaming product has completely destroyed the space for music cover art/design. Less so with books, I would say. Fascinating read - thank you!
Writing in InDesign is such a wild choice!
